Quick tips for the care and feeding of you Accuset:
The most common errors for the Accuset are media errors. If it is a problem loading it make sure the roll is clicked properly on the shaft, you may have put it on for years but once in a while the end plate doesn't click all the way. If that is ok make sure the shaft is not bent at the "wheel" if it wobbles the wheel lifts off the motor and you error. The shaft bends at the wheel very easy, all you have to do is bump the wheel while putting a new roll on and it may bend. If you have trouble getting the film into the takeup cassette, unscrew the 4 screws that hold the cassette together and check the metal guides in the cassette, they like to unglue and or shift and block the entrance to the cassette. Also on the back at the very bottom are 2 fan filters, keep them clean, moving cool air is good for the Accuset.

When released the Accuset was an all new design, sharing nothing with previous Agfa Imagesetters. This machine uses a visible red laser diode, like most modern systems, and therefore media costs less than infrared. The optical path is simplified, reducing the number of parts and giving a smaller footprint but accommodating a full 14" of media width. The Accuset series have been out long enough for there to be a consistent supply of used machines in great condition.

The AccuSet family includes a number of models. The standard and original machine is the 1000, which features a max of 3000 dpi, 15" per minute at 1200 dpi, and a power cutter. The 800 has no power cutter and a maximum resolution of 2400 dpi. The 1500 is a high speed version, and the 1200 and 1400 have Agfa Star internal hardware RIPs.
